OOTD: Summer 16 Edition {part 5}

IMG_8790 Hey everyone!

If you follow my Instagram, you may know that I spent the last couple of weeks in Europe. We traveled around the British Isles and let me tell you: quite the culture shock! I had been to London before and it didn't seem that different to me than, say, New York. (Other than, of course, the architecture and accent thing). But this time was so much different. The city seemed cleaner and prettier and smaller than I remember. I think that happens as we age: the world becomes less big and less scary and we begin to appreciate smaller things more.

By this, of course, I mean food, fashion and interpersonal behavior :). I didn't have my computer so I could not blog about my outfits and such (which explains why all of my Instagrams happened to be of food lol). Even though my sensitive stomach protested, I naively took up the attitude of When in Rome! Naturally this did not go well for me. It seemed that every location we visited (notably: Ireland) specialized in some form of beverage so I tried all of those, but the ones that really got me were the traditional dishes in Scotland. I was told that "haggis, neeps and tatties" was a very-Scottish dish so I gave it a go. (Let's just keep it PG for those that are faint-of-stomach and define it with the words "sheep's pluck"). It actually wasn't that bad... dare I even say slightly appetizing, but I couldn't manage to put mind over matter and eat more than a quarter of it. Hours later, naturally, I was curled up in the fetal position begging for more ginger ale. This was met with little surprise. From this experience I learned to maybe go only so far as variations of what I've eaten before? Idk but that's certainly no fun at all. Therefore, in Ireland, when I got the "Full Irish Breakfast" I ate everything aside from the black pudding (white pudding mixed with Pig's Blood).

Here are a few relevant photos from the trip in the way of food, fun and fashion. Also before I proceed, I think it's worth mentioning that I have just figured out Polyvore and am completely obsessed. Toss me a follow (bee-and-reed) for my outfit creations :) Some have recently been posted to Instagram. In fact, this is shifting my view of the direction I want to send my blog so stay tuned for updates on that.

PS: I also, at one point, said I would do a college series. I have since lost interest in doing this, especially since the last time I publicly advertised a college-related blog post I was met with ridicule (well-intentioned, I think, but a bit disheartening nonetheless).

Anyway, hope you enjoy these trip photos! Email me or comment below with any questions. Unfortunately this is not all-encompassing but I put in only those that seemed relevant to my blog.
